1020 A Jimmy Carter peanut campaign cane. The large handle, molded
of metal and painted light brown, is 5 1/3" long and 1 1/2" wide. It is inscribed
"JIMMY CARTER 1976" on one side and "FOR PRESIDENT 1976 on the other. The
shaft is brown finished hardwood and it never had a ferrule. The overall
length is 33" and the condition is excellent. It is a nice addition to a
political collection. 450.00

1021 A fancy silver golf club/cigarette case cane. The silver
"L" handle is 3 1/4" high and 3 3/4" long. It depicts a golf putter that
has an oval cartouche with large owner's initials: "T.I.H.". It is skillfully
decorated with fancy scrolls and flowers, and it is marked "Sterling". When
a catch at the top of the handle is opened, a gold washed cigarette case
is revealed. The mechanism is tight and works perfectly. The shaft is nicely
figured snakewood befitting this quality piece, and there is a 1 1/2" burnished
brass ferrule. The overall length is 36" and the condition is all-original
and very good. It is American,ca 1895. 1650.00

1022 A pin fire gun cane curio. The "L" horn handle is 2 1/2"
long and it joins into the cane that is made entirely of black painted metal.
Four and one-half inches down the shaft, the gun opens at a bayonet type
socket for loading a pin fire 12 mm cartridge. A hammer on the top of the
barrel pulls back with a thong for cocking and firing. All mechanics are
working well. There is a 3/4" removable ferrule/tampion to protect the barrel
and to clear it for firing. Overall length is 33.5" and the condition is
very good. It is probably continental ca 1885. An exact example of this piece
is shown on page 327, 32/5 of Cane Curijosa by Diole. It was part of the
gadget cane collection of the late William J. Upjohn. 1650.00

1023 A niello silver cane. The "L" handle is 3.75" high and 4.5"
long. The top half of the entire handle is worked with niello in a fancy
scroll pattern. There is a shield cartouche that is initialed for the original
owner. The end of the handle has a lion passant with two crosses, probably
taken from a coat-of-arms. It has a maker's hallmark and is probably 800
silver. The shaft is black painted hardwood with a 1" horn ferrule. The overall
length is 35.75" and the condition is very good. It is probably Englilsh
done in the Russian niello manner, ca 1900. 750.00

1024 A beautiful Brigg silver cane with gold wash. The sterling
knob handle is 3 1/3" high and 1 1/3" in diameter. It is covered in a light
gold wash and is repousse worked on the top with the face of a man wearing
an elaborate warrior's head-piece. It could be King Arthur or some other
early English monarch. The sides are decorated in flowers and "C" scrolls.
There are London hallmarks for 1888 and it is marked "Brigg" for the famous
London cane shop. The shaft is heavy ebony with a 1" replaced brass ferrule.
The overall length is 36 1/3" and the condition is very good. It is a very
nicely fashioned English decorative piece of substantial size.

1026 A modified tau handled silver Art Nouveau cane with raised
floral design. The front facing point of handle fashioned to resemble Eve
in the garden. Snake wood shaft. Silver handle has worn marks (?English)
and horn ferrule. Handle is 2.75" high x 4.75" wide. Length is 34.75".

1027 A German-hallmarked tau handled silver art nouveaux cane,
ca 1920 with finely executed linear pattern interrupted by a wave effect.
Rosewood shaft, original white metal ferrule. Handle is 2.25" x 4" wide.
Length is 35". 450.00

1028 A central European, possibly German, silver-handled cane
cast in the shape of a horse's leg, finely-detailed. Ebony shaft and horn
ferrule. Handel is 2.75" high x 4" wide. Length is 35.5".

1029 A very simple and straight forward ivory handled walking
stick. The handle being very graceful but relaxed in it's style showing a
wood-textured background on which is raised a monogrammed cartouche. Leather
collar in older tiger maple piece. Stained or burned hard wood shaft. Handle
is 3" high x 1.25" wide. Length is 36.75". 350.00

1030 An American silver plate-over-copper figural cane, the handle
fashioned in the image of a donkey with ears flared back. Silver collar with
oak shaft, the shaft treated with an elaborate Art Nouveau sterling cartouche
engraved: "M D SANDERS 1924 U OF GA BS.AG". Original horn ferrule. Handle
is 2" high x 4.75" wide. Length is 35.75". 750.00
